Our Founder & Director of School-Age

Hi! My name is Andrew Harrison and I am the Founder of Small Characters. I have worked in children’s programs for about 17 years now and I can’t begin to tell you how fortunate I am to have the experiences that I did. I started at the bottom and worked my way up over the years and was a Director of a Before and After School Program and a few different Summer Camps for about 5 years. Throughout my time working with children, I have formed many relationships and created many unforgettable memories with the children, their parents and families, and my fellow co-workers. I feel that children’s programs are centered around a positive and safe atmosphere that encourages communication, building relationships, and learning. My life was changed by the experiences and memories that were created while working with children’s programs and I want that to continue and be the main focus at Small Characters!

I am a very active person who loves sports and movement. Ever since I was a baby, I had some sort of sport ball in my hands or at my feet! My mom still tells people that my first word was ball. Activity is of huge importance for the children and I know exactly how it feels to be bored and just sitting around… So I’m not going to let that happen at Small Characters. I also love music and just toys in general. Over the years, I have created a great balance between play and structure and I feel that you need both in order to be a successful children’s program. So every day I strive to have a great balance of play and activity while maintaining structure that allows growth and learning. To be honest, I feel that I have the best job in the world and can’t wait to start forming relationships and creating unforgettable moments!
